{"id":623,"date":"2020-08-13T20:23:37","date_gmt":"2020-08-13T19:23:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/retreat-in-portugal.com\/blog\/?p=623"},"modified":"2020-08-13T20:27:04","modified_gmt":"2020-08-13T19:27:04","slug":"nature-watching-at-the-quinta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paradise-in-portugal.com\/blog\/?p=623","title":{"rendered":"Nature watching at the Quinta"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Yoga Groups, Retreats in general, Family gatherings, Romantic Getaways and Family Holidays are some of the reasons why our guests choose the Quinta as a venue, but perhaps the favourite reason is as a base from where to watch nature, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.birdinginportugal.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"birds especially (opens in a new tab)\">birds especially<\/a>, but Nature in general, and recently we&#8217;ve been having some wonderful views of a particularly difficult species to get to grips with, European Otters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/retreat-in-portugal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Otter-7979.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-624\" srcset=\"https:\/\/paradise-in-portugal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Otter-7979.jpg 650w, https:\/\/paradise-in-portugal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Otter-7979-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This one gave us a real show the other day as it caught crayfish after crayfish right in front of us, surfacing every now and again to munch on them above water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/retreat-in-portugal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Otter-7985.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-625\" srcset=\"https:\/\/paradise-in-portugal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Otter-7985.jpg 650w, https:\/\/paradise-in-portugal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Otter-7985-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We have a very good place to watch them from, our Water Rail and Kingfisher Hide &#8211; and the otters seem to enjoy watching us too! Although this one could hear our cameras he seemed more interested in catching his dinner, but took some time out to float right in front of us.
