{"id":230,"date":"2011-12-28T11:01:22","date_gmt":"2011-12-28T10:01:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.paradise-in-portugal.com\/blog\/?p=230"},"modified":"2011-12-28T11:17:11","modified_gmt":"2011-12-28T10:17:11","slug":"irish-surprise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paradise-in-portugal.com\/blog\/?p=230","title":{"rendered":"Irish Surprise"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: left; padding: 3px;\"><a title=\"photo sharing\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/quinta\/6586920415\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: solid 2px #000000;\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7147\/6586920415_672d29dc70.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 0.8em; margin-top: 0px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/quinta\/6586920415\/\">Frank-with-Wren-8158<\/a>, originally uploaded by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/quinta\/\">Paradise in Portugal<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Winter at the Quinta is the time for maintenance and recuperation &#8230; and our holidays!<br \/>\nLast week we took a quick break in Ireland where Daniela&#8217;s always wanted to go; OK, this time of year isn&#8217;t the best time to see the Emerald Isle in all its glory, but we had a fun time nevertheless visiting Newgrange, (the oldest human structure), and the Tetrapod trackway, (the oldest footprints of any animal), as well as catching up with friends I hadn&#8217;t seen in over 40 years, (who must be the oldest friends I haven&#8217;t seen for a while as well!).<\/p>\n<p>It was a week full of surprises &#8211; I&#8217;d told Daniela we were going to take a quick trip to Morocco, so it was a delight to see her face when we started queuing for a flight to Dublin instead of Marrakesh &#8211; but one of the nicest surprises, (apart from re-kindling old friendships of course), was this Wren landing on my shoulder &#8230; what made it even better was that Daniela had the camera in her hands and was able to get this photo. I&#8217;ve posted the picture on <a title=\"Birding in Portugal\" href=\"http:\/\/www.birding-in-portugal.com\" target=\"_blank\">my birding blog<\/a> as well, even if the chap wasn&#8217;t in Portugal.<br \/>\n<em><strong><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Happy New Year to you all!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Frank-with-Wren-8158, originally uploaded by Paradise in Portugal.
